Dr. Steven Edmundowicz is a Professor of Medicine in the division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver Colorado. He is also the Medical Director of the Digestive Health Center at the University of Colorado Hospital. Dr. Edmundowicz has had prior leadership positions in Gastroenterology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Jefferson Medical College, and the Allegheny Health System in Philadelphia, before moving to Colorado in 2015. Clinically, he is a recognized expert in interventional endoscopy including ERCP, EUS, and other advanced procedures. He developed an interest in flexible endoscopic bariatric therapies in 1999. He has had a focus on clinical research of endoscopic bariatric and metabolic therapies. Dr. Edmundowicz has studied endoscopic gastroplasty, gastric balloons, small intestinal therapies, and cutaneous electrical stimulation. He actively consults and collaborates with investigations for Elira, Olympus, Allurion, and Fractyl in the bariatric space. He continues to have an active clinical practice while committing to administration, education, and clinical research in new endoscopic technologies. In the past, he has been the senior associate editor for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and after serving as councilor, and treasure became the ASGE President from June 2018 to May 2019.
