I have been struggling with my weight most of my adult life. We all know the emotional and physical pitfalls, not to mention the embarrassment and insecurities. I tried every diet and at this point I can honestly say that I am a great example of the classic yo-yo effect. I’d follow a diet, lose 30lbs, then fall back into my old routine, and gain 45lbs. I did this over and over and over. Once I got into my 50’s, I started to be challenged with chronic back pain and pain in my feet/ankles. Obviously this was from my weight, but knowing that, didn’t make it easier to lose the weight. I knew friends and family members who opted for the bariatric sleeve surgery. They were successful, I was honestly very happy for them, but not sure if it was right for me. One day my husband came home from work telling me about one of his colleagues who had the ESG procedure at Bariendo. She had the procedure on a Friday and was back to work on Monday. This seemed interesting, so I looked up Bariendo, called and spoke with Sebastian who explained what the procedure was, how it worked, how much it would cost, etc. I was hooked, but not yet ready to commit. I thought about it and listened to the stories my husband came home with about his colleague. She was losing weight, feeling great, and super enthusiastic for me to start the same journey.
I made the decision to move forward with the non-surgical solution. My procedure was in the end of February. Today, less than 4 months later, I’m 42lbs lighter and I’m not done yet. What’s the difference with this procedure and all the diets I followed before? I feel like this time, I’ve been given the tools to succeed that will work for me for the rest of my life. Bariendo gave me the recipe/formula for a successful weight loss journey. My stomach is smaller, so I’m satisfied much quicker and that is SUPER helpful. But it’s also the knowledge, focusing on proteins and hydration that makes this work. You are still you, so you still have the emotional triggers you may have had before, but feeling satisfied sooner has made a big difference for me, allowing me to make better decisions. I speak with a dietitian monthly who has great tips for all of the challenges that come my way. I also speak with a nurse practitioner every couple of months, checking in on my progress and providing tips and useful suggestions. I feel great. This was the best decision I’ve ever made, and I would highly recommend this procedure to anyone who is serious about making the lifestyle changes needed to live a healthier life.
