Hear from Kevin, our former ESG patient

It was not an easy decision to make. For me it is by far the most positive life changing action I could have taken. It requires daily commitment, discipline and a call to be brave enough to want to not just change your life, but in many cases like mine, help save your life. I have so much more energy and my general health and wellbeing has improved exponentially.

Hear from Kevin, our former ESG patient

I have so much more energy and my general health and wellbeing has improved exponentially.

My Story

I am a 65-year-old retired corporate executive. I have been disabled for the last decade due to serious heart issues and other co-morbidities, including obesity. Over the years, I have tried many diet and exercise plans without lasting success. My obesity was causing me to suffer physically and emotionally, depriving me of a better, happier life.

In the last two years, I thoroughly researched various surgical and non-surgical options to lose weight, keep it off, and take my life back. I live in the Boston area and was familiar with the highly regarded Brigham and Women’s Mass General Hospital’s Center for Weight Management and Wellness, led by nationally recognized Gastroenterologist and Harvard Professor of Medicine, Dr. Christopher Thompson.

Late last year, I contacted Dr. Thompson and his staff, and after careful consideration, I chose to have a non-invasive Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty, otherwise known as an ESG Procedure, to help me lay the foundation for recovery from my obesity.

It was not an easy decision to make. For me, it is by far the most positive, life-changing action I could have taken. It requires daily commitment, discipline, and a call to be brave enough to want not just to change your life, but in many cases like mine, help save your life.

It is not a magical procedure. The ESG Procedure itself is straightforward. It requires your full participation in your health management every day for the rest of your life, including choosing healthy foods and exercise. Shortly before the ESG Procedure, I started following a modified Mediterranean diet and walking daily and have continued that regimen.

The first 90 days after the procedure are the most challenging, but once you get through the first 30 days, things get easier day by day. It has been less than a year since my ESG Procedure, and I have lost more than 20% of my body weight. My quality of life has changed dramatically. I have so much more energy, and my general health and wellbeing have improved exponentially.

Dr. Thompson and his amazing staff of nutritionists, dieticians, nurses, and psychologists are there for you every step of the way, and I still am in direct contact with Dr. Thompson and his team on an as-needed and scheduled appointment basis.

Be brave and find out how you can help find a better way to lengthen and improve your quality of life by taking control of your weight and wellbeing. Call Dr. Thompson
