Ali Abbas, MD

Dr. Ali Abbas is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Abbas is among a handful of fellowship-trained bariatric endoscopists and advanced endoscopists nationwide who graduated from Brigham & Women’s Hospital, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of South Florida after finishing internal medicine residency at the University of Florida-Gainesville. He earned his Medical Degree (M.D.) from Al-Kindy College of Medicine and Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) in Epidemiology from Tulane University as a Fulbright Scholar.

From 2020-2022, Dr. Abbas was the Director of Bariatric Endoscopy and an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of South Florida. Dr. Abbas introduced bariatric endoscopic procedures along with several cutting-edge advanced endoscopic procedures to the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital systems and was the pioneer in this field in the Tampa Bay area.

Dr. Abbas has significant research contributions to the fields of gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy, and bariatric endoscopy through collaborations with multiple reputable research centers.  Additionally, Dr. Abbas is among the highest reviewed physicians in Wesley Chapel and Tampa Bay areas with compassionate and timely care to his patients.
